Everstead Tax Services is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the information clients and visitors provide. This policy explains what is collected, how it is used, and the professional obligations that govern it.
Information collected
Information you provide. When you submit the contact form, call, or email, we receive the information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, location, and a description of your situation. If you become a client, we additionally receive the tax documents and financial records necessary to perform the engaged services.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web host records standard server log data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and time of access. This site does not use advertising trackers or sell visitor data.
How information is used
- To respond to your inquiry and determine whether we can help
- To prepare, review, and file tax returns and related filings
- To represent you before the IRS or a state agency when engaged to do so
- To communicate about deadlines, documents, and the status of your work
- To meet legal, regulatory, and professional recordkeeping requirements
Confidentiality of tax return information
Tax return information is protected by Internal Revenue Code Section 7216, which prohibits a tax return preparer from disclosing or using that information for any purpose other than preparing the return, except with your written consent or where specifically permitted by law. As an Enrolled Agent, this practice is also bound by the professional standards of Treasury Circular 230.
Your information is not sold, rented, or traded. It is not shared with marketing partners. Disclosure occurs only with your written authorization, to a service provider bound to equivalent confidentiality obligations and only as needed to deliver the service, or where required by law, subpoena, or a valid governmental request.
Security
This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and documents containing personal identifiers are exchanged through a secure channel rather than ordinary email. Reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards are maintained to protect information in our custody.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Please do not send Social Security numbers, account numbers, or images of identity documents through the website contact form or unencrypted email.
Retention
Client records are retained for the period required by professional standards, applicable law, and prudent practice management — generally at least seven years after the engagement ends. Inquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained only as long as reasonably necessary.
Cookies
This site uses only the cookies necessary for basic operation and security. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your browser can be configured to refuse cookies; the site will continue to function.
Third-party links
Pages on this site link to external resources, including IRS.gov. Those sites operate under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to the recordkeeping obligations described above. Depending on your state of residence, additional rights may apply. To make a request, contact us using the information below.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
